This Lent, on March 27th & 28th at Most Precious Blood Parish in Corpus Christi, TX, Fullness of Truth & the Augustine Institute present “Veni Sancte Spiritu: Rediscovering the Power & Purpose of the Holy Spirit” with a mission to inspire Catholics to enkindle a personal devotion to the Holy Spirit, and a renewed confidence in His constant presence in our lives. Join Augustine Institute’s President Dr. Tim Gray, and their Professor of Theology Dr. Michael Barber, as they take a fresh look at the Holy Spirit and show how you can tap into His power now! Catholics know God as their Father and Jesus as their friend, yet most bypass the third person of the Holy Trinity in their spiritual lives. The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, remains a mystery for many of us! We “adore and glorify” the Spirit with the Father and the Son, but do we really understand the power or the actions of the Spirit?
Simple willpower isn’t enough when you’re struggling against anger, anxiety, addictions, sexual temptations, and other common problems. The power of the Holy Spirit — and only that power — is strong enough to overcome these deeply rooted and disheartening difficulties. The Holy Spirit is the "friend closest to our heart," who leads us in prayer, directs our mind with truth, and makes us holy. Attendees will learn how to renew their life in the Holy Spirit, understand and receive spiritual gifts, and grow in love, joy, peace, and other fruits that are the sign that the Holy Spirit dwells in us.
Christ promised to send “the Spirit of Truth”—the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete, the Advocate to dispel ignorance, correct errors, and oppose falsehoods. In turn, the Advocate gives us the wisdom to discern the truth, the strength to choose to live according to it, and the confidence to proclaim and defend the truth! Dr. Gray & Dr. Barber will explain how the Spirit equips us to draw others to Christ, build up the church, and generate unity among its members. Their advice, firmly rooted in the wisdom of the saints, will help you gain the Spirit’s power, both in your individual spiritual life and in your relationships! You will learn how to trust Jesus more and to control your own thoughts — as well as how to let go of grudges, and how to place your dealings with others on a firm Christian footing. Yes, prayerful and regular study of the scriptures is the key to hear the voice of God, to see the Holy Spirit at work even in times of suffering, and to receive all the graces God wants to give. Our speaker’s forthright, Holy Spirit-centered approach will give you trustworthy, tested ways to gain the freedom that only God can give!
Our conference will also strive to answer the following:
What is the role of the Holy Spirit in creation?
How does the Holy Spirit bestow authority and empower us?
How did the Spirit work through the prophets?
How does the Spirit give us wisdom and “lead us into all truth”?
What is the relationship between the Holy Spirit, Jesus, and the Trinity?
How did the Holy Spirit empower Mary and others in the New Testament?
What role does the Holy Spirit play in our spiritual lives?
Through clear explanations, numerous references to the lives of the saints, and other insightful challenges, our presenters will encourage us to love and live out the truth, found most especially with the help of the Holy Spirit, in the Will of God! Don’t miss it!
ALSO INCLUDED: The conference “kicks-off” Friday night, 7 pm - 9 pm with an “Evening of Music, Prayer & Adoration” led by Corpus Christi natives Dave & Lauren Moore, and the Dallas-based “Catholic Music Initiative”, featuring a beautiful blend of contemporary & traditional sacred music leading us in a soul-awakening, Eucharistic Adoration encounter with Our Lord Jesus Christ!
