Overview: The Communications Coordinator takes pride in building well-branded and outstanding communications in all media available – email, print, social media, direct mail, website, YouTube, or any other media that connects people with the critical mission of sharing the Truth, Beauty, and Goodness of the Catholic faith. With an eye for developing exceptional print materials, and sharp insights in creating clear and concise copy, the communications coordinator is a continuous learner in their craft, seeking new ways to collaborate and connect people with the mission of Fullness of Truth.
Logistical Details
- Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Coordinator is a self-starter and able to prioritize workloads based on organizational deadlines.
- This position is full-time role, officing in the near northwest side of Houston.
- The organization provides Catholic conferences across the state of Texas, and partially into Louisiana. The Communications Coordinator assists at each conference’s location, supporting communications needs throughout the conference. Mileage and expenses incurred for travel to conference locations is reimbursed by the organization. Travel is estimated at five or six times per year, for approximately a two-day stay for each conference.
Areas of responsibility:
Graphic Design
- Create event programs, flyers, brochures, save the dates, invitations using InDesign
- Create PowerPoints, letters/documents, & other printed and digital material
Website
- Add new content to the website (copy, videos, articles, etc.)
- Strong copy-writing skills with an ability to self-check content relevance, clarity, and accuracy.
- Identify opportunities for increasing the organization’s impact in this medium.
- Daily check-ins to make sure website is running smoothly
External Communications
- Create weekly Constant Contact emails with event updates and new content relevant to upcoming conferences and events.
- Manage sync between NEON CRM and Constant Contact to ensure emails are reaching the broadest audience
- Create reporting mechanism to understand:
- Email metrics and how to improve for future communications
- Create/maintain targeted email audiences in Constant Contact
- Website metrics and effectiveness of website
- Train, understand and utilize NEON CRM’s email campaign functions to send targeted donor emails or mailings.
- Upgrade Donor portal experience
Social Media
- Develop, compile, and execute content for all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter).
- Strong proof-reading skills enabling a accurate self-check of content produced.
- Create and manage a schedule/calendar of daily posts in a monthly layout
- Post daily to Instagram and Facebook
- Determine additional complementary media opportunities
- Research and select platform to cross-post to all social media outlets for efficiency
- Spearhead periodic giveaways or contests to increase followers across platforms
- Capture analytics and create reports to assess efforts
- Research and produce paid ads for conference promotions when necessary
Conference/Event Support
- Assist with promotions prior to each conference/event
- Assist with Volunteer outreach
- Work with parish communications personnel to support their promotion of various events
- Provide on-site support of various communications needs, requiring travel to conference locations. (Approx. five or six times per year for two-days each conference.)
Video/Media Archives
- Create/maintain detail archive of all past conference recordings, with index including
- Conference Date, Location and Theme
- Speaker Name
- Talk Title
- Whether we have audio or audio+video
- Any restrictions placed on reproduction by speaker
- Synthesize past videos from archives
- Edit and shorten videos to provide 2-5 min segments for our media outlets
- Coordinate with Director of Development regarding how to present and update past conference archives to donors through NEON portal. Update periodically as directed.
- Periodic collection, editing, and distribution of testimonials at conference locations.
Qualifications/ Knowledge
- Must have solid working knowledge of InDesign, graphic design principles, Constant Contact, print production, website development using WordPress.
- Must have general knowledge editing video & media archives, creating documents, spreadsheets & PowerPoint presentations.
- Additional professional skill development education will be provided to enable a talented Communications Coordinator to develop and refine their skills.
