Catholic Radio

The moment for Catholic radio in the United States seems to have finally arrived. We have gone from seven Catholic stations in 1998, to over 60 as of July 2003. The Catholic Radio Association, a lay apostolate that helps other lay apostolates establish stations in their home cities, expects there will be over 100 Catholic radio stations by 2005. This fact speaks volumes about the timing for Catholic radio.

Eternal Truth Broadcasting
is humbled to be the instrument that God is using to invite the Galveston-Houston Catholic community to be part of this great movement in the Catholic Church.

The Houston Catholic Radio Project is a local group of committed Catholics dedicated to running an existing radio station and converting it to quality Catholic programming, and operating on a non-profit basis.

"Catholics should not be afraid to throw open the doors of social communications to Christ, so that his Good News may be heard from the house tops of the world... Once the media reported events; now events are often shaped to meet the requirements of the media. The relationship between reality and the media has grown more intricate, and this is a deeply ambivalent phenomenon. On the one hand, it can blunder the distinction between truth and illusion but, on the other , it can open up unprecedented opportunities for making the truth more widely accessible to many more people. The task of the Church is to insure that it is the latter that actually happens."

- John Paul II Jan. 25, 2001

The Vatican's Message on Communications

Our Holy Father Pope John Paul II, in his Apostolic Exhortation CATECHESI TRADENDAE encourages us to catechize, especially by using radio and television. "The Church has always considered catechesis one of her primary tasks. I think immediately of the great possibilities offered by means of group communication [via] television and radio..." (1,46)

Join us as we help in promoting to fulfill his desire to catechize and evangelize through radio.

Thank you for your prayers and support!
