...
We are thankful for the
honor of being invited by His Excellency to conduct this
conference for the benefit of the good people of the Diocese
of Corpus Christi and surrounding areas.
Bishop Carmody is the second of a family of thirteen children
of Michael Carmody and Mary Stack, and was born in Moyvane,
County Kerry, Ireland, on January 12, 1934. In September
of 1951, he entered the Major Seminary of St. Patrick in
Carlow, where he was ordained to the priesthood for the
Archdiocese of San Antonio on June 8, 1957. Bishop
Carmody received his Master's Degree in Education at Our
lady of the Lake University in 1968, and a Master's Degree
in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University
in 1973. In addition he holds teacher and counselor
certificates from the State of Texas. He was named
a Prelate of Honor to His Holiness by Pope John Paul II
on April 24, 1979. In 1963, Msgr. Carmody went with
the St. James Society as a Missionary to Latin America,
where he worked for five years as a missionary in Quayaquil,
Ecuador. Only a few days before completing his five-year
missionary assignment, he was called home to San Antonio
and appointed Auxiliary Bishop of San Antonio. Bishop
Carmody served as Auxiliary Bishop of San Antonio from 1988
until 1992. On May 25, 1992, he was installed Bishop
of Tyler, Texas. In February of 2000, Bishop Carmody

... is
what has commonly been called a late vocation. In other
words, he came to the priesthood at 44 years old. From a
small town boy to the Vietnam era U.S. Army, from millionaire
businessman in Las Vegas and Hollywood, to drug-addicted
and homeless, to religious life and ordination in the priesthood
by John Paul II, to life as a preacher of the Gospel who
has reached missions with the simple message; that God's
Name Is Mercy! He is a perpetually professed priest member
of the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity. |

| Mr.
Tim Staples |
 |
... Tim
Staples is a full-time evangelist and Director of Evangelization
at the Catholic Resource Center. Tim was raised a Baptist
and was an Assembly of God Youth Minister before he met
a fellow Marine who knew how to defend the Catholic Faith.
He soon became convinced that the Catholic Church was indeed
the Church started by Christ. Since his conversion he has
given hundreds of talks and helped thousands of Catholics
find their way back home. Tim can speak extensively on every
Catholic issue and is especially effective in apologetics,
bible study, Mary, and the Eucharist. |

| Fr.
Mitch Pacwa |
 |
... Father
Mitch Pacwa is a nationally known author, EWTN host and
Old Testament Bible scholar who has written two books and
made many audio and video studies. He is well known for
his videos on "The Sufferings of Christ" and on
the "False Doctrine and the New Age" as well as
his recent Bible studies entitled "God the Father and
the Prayer of Jesus Christ," "Reflections on the
Letter to the Colossians," and "The Life of St.
Paul and his Letters to the Thessalonians.". He has
done at least six TV series on EWTN on topics such as "The
Old Testament Prophets" and the "Via Dolorosa"
as well as the audio/video series, "In the Footsteps
of St. Paul." He speaks on the Old Testament Signs
and symbols of the Eucharist and presents fascinating Biblical
evidence to demonstrate that Christ used the language of
Levite priesthood in the Upper Room at the Last Supper to
ordain the Apostles as priests with the same words used
by Moses to ordain Levites priests and explains the relationship
of the Sacrifice of the Mass to Old Testament sacrifices
by the Levite priesthood of Israel. |

| Ms.
Rosalind Moss |
 |
... Born
Jewish, Rosalind in her adult years embraced Jesus as the
Messiah of the Jewish people. After 18 years of Evangelical
Protestantism, she entered the Catholic Church at Easter
1995. Her initial conversion took her from a business background
to full time Evangelical ministry, earning an MA in Ministry
from Talbot Theological Seminary. A series of events in
the Summer of 1990 set her on a compelling course to find
out if the Catholic Church is in fact the Church Christ
established 2,000 years ago. Now a staff apologist at Catholic
Answers, Rosalind travels here and abroad speaking and teaching
through parishes, conferences, radio and television. Rosalind
is a frequent guest on "Catholic Answers Live,"
and together with Kristine Franklin, co-hosts EWTN's "Household
of Faith."

|
...
is the founder of Paradisus Dei, an organization of lay
Catholics which helps couples discover the superabundance
of God within their marriages and family life. He writes
and lectures on the centrality of marriage in salvation
history in light of Pope John Paul II Theology of the Body
and St. Maximillian Kolbe's mystical insights into Our Lady.
He has been given the gift to uniquely enter into the Church's
three wisdoms as they relate to marriage harmonizing theology
with the findings of medical science while providing a vision
that touches the divine. His writings have appeared in the
National Catholic Register, Inside the Vatican and The Catholic
Answers. Steve resides with his family in Houston, TX. |

were at a point in their life where they felt as if they
could not continue their 10 years of marriage. After, miraculously,
returning from the brink of divorce by inviting God back
into their relationship - Greg and Julie created TAHA as
a vehicle to teach others about the marriage covenant and
equip individuals and couples with the skills necessary
to build stronger marriages and assist families in their
development. The Alexander's were formerly Co-Coordinators
of the Family Life Office of the Diocese of Austin and are
now House-Parents for the Annunciation Maternity Home in
Georgetown, Texas. |
